Always a good student who succeeded easily, Wellesley first taught me to love learning for itself, not as a means to an end. Surviving the experience forced me to develop skills that have served me well for almost 50 years, diligence, effort, self-reliance, organization, concentration, etc. It nurtured me in an environment of great physical beauty. It forced me to confront failure and my personal limits. It taught me humility along with success. And it taught me to continuously redefine my priorities and personal success in ways that have been affirming and sustaining.
Wellesley is and has been a core part of my self-identity.
