My heart skips a beat when I remember that day in 1945 when the "Yes" or "No" envelope from Wellesley arrived in our RFD mailbox. I'd applied nowhere else. The essay question I had chosen in my College entrance exam was "It's a long road that has no turning." At Wellesley I discovered that every one of us who made that choice had interpreted it differently, put a different spin on it. There are so many ways to live a life. Wellesley opened doors for us. Be open, be curious, work hard, have fun, affirm others. An abiding pleasure is meeting new generations of Wellesley women who pass through Cape Town.
A turning point.
